Final Thoughts
The series started out so promising then it just turned into one to forget. I really thought that the Cubs were ready to step up and win a series, but it just didn’t happen. Lack of clutch hitting, and pitching added up to losing two out of three to the defending champs. The Cardinals .387 average with runners in scoring position is out of this World so some credit has to be given to them, but the Cubs pitchers have to do a better job of pitching out of trouble. Way too often Cubs pitchers are way to pre occupied with the base runners and forget they have to get the hitter out, that needs to change.
Hero / Goat
Hero: Bryan LaHair – Hit a big grand slam in the first game of the series which the led to the Cubs only win of the series.
Goat: Paul Maholm - The Cubs needed a big start on Sunday to win the series and Maholm didn’t deliver, he struggled big time again.
