4/27: Around the Cubs Minor League System
Here is your nightly recap for the Cubs minor league system, full recaps/box scores after the jump, enjoy.
Patrick Francescon was downright disgusting on Friday night against Lake County. Francescon went 6 innings, allowing only two hits and striking out 8 en route to his second victory of the season. Pin-Chieh Chen, and Oliver Zapata each had two hits for the Chiefs. Paul Hoilman, who has been carrying a big stick lately went yard again in the first inning, he finished 1-for-5 with two RBI’s.
A late rally wasn’t enough for Daytona as they fell to Clearwater 4-3 after tying the game at 3 with two runs in the 8th inning. Greg Rohan continued his assault on the Florida State League pitching going 2-for-3 with an RBI, his 23rd, yes 23rd of the season already, that’s top’s in the FSL. Erik Jokisch was stellar on the mound for Daytona going 7 innings, giving up three runs, only one earned in a no decision.
The Tennessee Smokies cannot score runs against the Jackson Generals, I repetat, the Jackson Generals have to be cheating, at least that’s what it seems like they are doing against the Smokies. Trey McNutt was awesome again for the Smokies going 3 innings, and only giving up one hit while striking out two. He has now lowered his ERA to 0.61 on the season. Nate Samson, and Elliot Soto each had two hits for the Smokies, that’s really it as the Generals continue their dominance over the Smokies.
Iowa: It rained, the end.
