4/28: Around the Cubs Minor League System
Here is your nightly recap for the Cubs minor league system, full recaps/box scores after the jump, enjoy.
Daytona was off
Tough one for Peoria tonight as they blew a 5-2 lead in the fourth inning en route to a 6-5 defeat to Fort Wayne. Paul Hoilman continued his hot stretch at the plate going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s. Six of the nine Chiefs starters registered a hit, unfortunately they couldn’t string anything together after the fourth inning. Jose Rosario started for the Chiefs and was beat up pretty bad, allowing 5 runs over 5 and 1/3rd innings. Austin Reed took the loss out of the bullpen.

Tennessee was finally able to plate more than two runs against the Generals, unfortunately they had to settle for the same old result, falling 6-4. Jae-Hoon Ha, Justin Bour, Matthew Cerda, and Michael Burgess all had two hits on the night. Burgess had most of the production going 2-for-4 with home run, a double, and three RBI’s. Dallas Beeler took his first loss, but didn’t pitch too poorly, giving up four runs over five innings of work.
***
Chris Rusin was outstanding for the I-Cubs Saturday night, unfortunately the I-Cubs bats just couldn’t get it going and ended up falling to Nashville 3-0. Dave Sappelt, Anthony Rizzo, and Josh Vitters were the only I-Cubs to register a hit as it was slim pickings out there. Casey Coleman took the loss out of the bullpen giving up all three runs, two earned.
