4/29: Around the Cubs Minor League System
Here is your nightly recap for the Cubs minor league system, full recaps/box scores after the jump, enjoy.
Benjamin Wells was awesome on the mound for Peoria going 5 and 1/3rds of an inning while only allowing two hits and no runs to earn his second victory of the season. Wes Darvill, Ryan Cuneo, and Taylor Davis all had two hits on the day. Brad Zapenas went 3-for-4 with a double as the Chiefs pounded out 10 hits in the 5-2 victory.

Zach Cates fell to 0-4 on the season as Daytona fell to Lakeland 6-4. Cates didn’t pitch terrible, going 5 innings, giving 3 runs on five hits. Hayden Simpson didn’t provide any help out of the pen, as he surrendered two runs in an inning and 2/3rds. Matt Szczur had a great day at the plate going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Dae-Eun Rhee struggled on the mound, but got some help from his bullpen and offense today in Tennessee’s 5-3 victory over Jackson. Marcus Hately was outstanding out of the bullpen going 3 innings, giving up one hit and one walk while striking out four to get the victory. Jonathan Mota was the star at the plate going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and two RBI’s. Michael Brenly chipped in with two hits and an RBI.
