It’s been tough sledding for the Smokies against the Generals this year, as they have been held to one run or less multiple times. Wednesday night was no different as the Generals stymied the Smokies en route to a 5-1 victory. James Adduci and Nate Samson were the only offense for the Smokies, Adduci going 3-for-4 and Samson going 2-for-3. Full box score after the jump.
Greg Rohan stayed hot for Daytona going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI’s in Daytona’s win. Ronald Torreyes, Nelson Perez, and John Andreoli all had two hits. Matt Szczur continued to find ways to get on base despite his low batting average. He stole two more bases, which brings his total to 10 on the season. Full box score after the jump.
Gerardo Concepcion made his pro debut for the Cubs organization yesterday with the Peoria Chiefs, and he probably wishes he had that first inning back. Concepcion lasted five innings surrendering five runs, all in the first, so it was good to see him settle down after that. Full box score after the jump.
Lets do this!
The Cubs plans for a sweep of the Cardinals might have to wait a little longer. The game will not start at 1:20 PM Central as it is currently raining. They expect the rain to move out of the area by about 1:20 PM CST, and the first pitch should follow shortly thereafter, we will have baseball today.
Travis Wood had a solid effort on Tuesday, but the I-Cubs couldn’t muster any offense in a 4-0 defeat to Memphis. Welington Castillo, and Luis Valbuena each had two hits, but the I-Cubs couldn’t string anything together against Shelby Miller and the Cardinals. Full box score after the jump.
Dae-Eun Rhee didn’t have his best stuff Tuesday night, and it resulted in the Smokies getting behind early 7-0 after three innings. Jae-Hoon Ha had a tremendous day at the plate going 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored. Full box score after the jump.
Not much went right for Daytona Tuesday night, as Lakeland scored in all but two innings on their way to a 13-5 victory. On the bright side, the D-Cubs swung the bats rather well. Matt Szczur seems to be turning it on at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and two walks. Rubi Silva, Sergio Burruel, and Dustin Harrington all had multi-hit games.
