4/30: Around the Cubs Minor League System
Here is your nightly recap for the Cubs minor league system, full recaps/box scores after the jump, enjoy.
Tennessee was off
Gerardo Concepcion needs to find a way to get thru the first inning. His last start saw him give up five runs in the first, last night he gave up seven and never made it out of the first. The whole was too for Peoria to climb out of as they eventually fell to Fort Wayne 8-4. Zeke DeVoss, Rafael Lopez, Paul Hoilman, and Ryan Cuneo all had two hits in the loss. Peoria hitters combined to hit five doubles on the night.
Frank Del Valle pitched fantastic going five innings and only allowing two runs on five hits. He ended his evening with a no decision however as the D-Cubs bullpen couldn’t hold a 6-4 lead late. Lakeland plated four runs in the 8th inning to come all the way back from a 5-1 deficit to win 8-6. Every Cubs hitter had at least one hit, Szczur, Andreoli, and Bonne all had two hits. Rubi Silva went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI’s. Szczur is on fire of late, and is running a lot, he had his 13th stolen base of the season.
Travis Wood only lasted five innings and took the loss after giving up five runs on seven hits in a 5-4 loss to Memphis. Adrian Cardenas is red hot right now, and really has been all year, he continued his hot hitting ways Monday night going 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, and an RBI. Anthony Rizzo was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI’s in the loss.
