Cubs lose, but hey, fog!
Full Box Score
Game Highlights
Some games just lack interest, this was one of them, unless you are a huge fan of lake enhanced fog, and who isn’t?? The only thing that would have been better is if Cheryl Scott was there to tell us about it. It was a foggy mess at Wrigley and the Cubs followed suit as they lost to Brandon Phillips 6-2, that’s right, Brandon Phillips drove in all six runs, the guys a jerk. One bad inning did Scott Feldman in, and the Cubs probably couldn’t see the ball, home field fog is supposed to help the home team!

June 9, 2013 – Pirates @ Cubs; Lineups
Oh offense, are you there?? If so, can you please show up today, thanks. The Cubs have been absolutely shut down the last two days by the Pirates pitching, first by Francisco Liriano, then yesterday by A.J. Burnett. Today the Cubs will tasked with solving Jeff Locke who has been outstanding for the Pirates. The Cubs will counter with Edwin Jackson who has been anything but outstanding for the Cubs, first pitch is scheduled for 1:20 PM CST, there is a threat of rain, but should be dry until after the game.

June 8, 2013 – Pirates @ Cubs; Lineups
Solid match up on the mound today as Jeff Samardzija takes on A.J. Burnett in a rematch of Opening Day. The Cubs had a solid approach yesterday for the most part as they made Liriano work, but couldn’t get a clutch hit to save their life. The Cubs will have to do more of the same with Burnett, make him throw strikes and get in deep counts and they should have some success. First pitch scheduled for 3:05 PM CST, here are the lineups.
June 7, 2013 – Pirates @ Cubs; Lineups
Oh right, the Cubs play today. Lost in the excitement with the draft is that the Cubs still have games to play, it is what it is, we are forced to look to the future. Travis Wood gets the ball for the Cubs today as they look to build on an exciting win to close out the Angels series on Wednesday. The Pirates will counter with Francisco Liriano who gave the Cubs fits in Pittsburgh the last time these teams met. Here are the lineups for today.
Rizzo comes up huge to complete Cubs comeback
Tale of two games in this one for the Cubs as they fell behind 4-1 in the fourth inning then went to work. Cody Ransom just barely snuck a three-run homer inside the left field foul pole to tie the game at four in the fifth. The Cubs jumped ahead in the sixth inning as Ryan Sweeney came through with a big RBI single. The Cubs hung onto that one run lead until the eighth inning when Mark Trumbo took James Russell deep to tie things up. It stayed that way until the tenth inning when the Cubs loaded the bases with two out for Anthony Rizzo. Up until that at bat Rizzo was scuffling, but that’s the great thing about baseball, always a chance to turn the day around. That’s exactly what Rizzo did as he laced a two-out bases clearing double to give the Cubs an 8-5 lead, and they held off the Angels in the bottom half to take this one 8-6.

June 4, 2013 – Cubs @ Angels; Lineups!
Time to forget the last two games against the Diamondbacks, honestly, forget them, yuck. The Cubs start a brief two game series against the Angels tonight in Anaheim. Typically this would be a tough match up, and probably will, but the Angels have under performed this year, and are coming off a four game sweep at the hands of the Astros……the Astros. Scott Feldman gets the ball for the Cubs tonight, he will be opposed by Jered Weaver of the Angels, first pitch scheduled for 9:05 PM CST. Here are the lineups, you’ll notice a change as Castro has been dropped to seventh in the order.

May 30, 2013 – White Sox @ Cubs; Lineups
Would this be a sweep? A three game sweep, a two game sweep? Who cares, just beat the Sox again. The Cubs look for their fourth straight victory and third straight over the Sox this afternoon as Travis Wood takes on Jake Peavy. Can’t stand Peavy, would really enjoy six runs in the first. There is a chance for scattered storms again today, but it looks like tonight and tomorrow should see the bulk of it so this one should get in uninterrupted. Here are the lineups.

Navarro leads the way as Cubs throttle White Sox, again
New ballpark, same result, and I like it. Dioner Navarro just had himself a career day as he launched three home runs, and drove in six to lead the Cubs past the White Sox 9-3. Apparently the best medicine for an anemic offense is a dose of White Sox pitching as the Cubs have pounded out twenty hits and scored sixteen runs over the last two games. Navarro’s offensive heroics were more than enough for Scott Feldman to earn his fifth win of the season. Feldman worked a solid six innings giving up two runs on six hits while striking out seven.
