Brooks Raley was awesome Friday night going six innings, giving up two runs on three hits to earn a no decision. Kevin Rhoderick came in and was equally effective, holding the Lookouts scoreless over the next inning and 1/3rd to come out with the victory. Jae-Hoon Ha, Logan Watkins, and Juan Apodaca all had two hits for the Smokies, as they were able to complete the comeback by scoring in the 7th inning to take the lead 3-2. Full box score after the jump.
The weather is miserable in the Chicagoland area today, but it’s not as bad as the Cubs, they are ice-cold. Thanks to a rocky outing from Chris Volstad, and some bad defensive work, stop me if you’ve heard this before, the Cubs have dropped their sixth in a row. Right from the hop it was apparent that the Cubs probably didn’t have a chance today. Before the sparse crowd could even get settled the Reds were up 4-0 in the top of the first inning against Volstad. Things never really got better for the Cubs as every time they tried to mount a comeback the Reds were able to tack on to their lead. When it was all said and done, the Reds walk out with a 9-4 victory, in which the Cubs almost had more errors (3) than runs (4) and hits (5). Full Recap after the jump.
St. Louis wins the series 2 – 1.
Full recap after the jump
Cubs are all over the Cardinals and Adam Wainwright. Ian Stewart hit a 3-run homer in the first, and Bryan LaHair launched a grand slam in the 3rd, Samardzija looking good again. Bottom of the 3rd, Cubs lead 8-0
I feel better today, today will be a good day, the Cubs will win today, or they won’t. Grienke vs. Garza this afternoon at 1:20 PM Central, another solid pitching matchup. Here is how both teams lineup today, for my money this is the best lineup the Cubs can put on the field at this point.
RF – DeJesus
2B – Barney
SS – Castro
LF – Soriano
3B – Stewart
1B – LaHair
C – Clevenger
CF – Johnson
P – Garza
2B – Weeks
CF – Morgan
LF – Braun
RF – Hart
1B – Gamel
SS – Gonzalez
C – Lucroy
3B – Izturis
P – Grienke
How about a win today? I’ll settle for Grienke throwing more then 90 pitches by the 5th. Take a pitch! Go Cubs!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone, the Cubs celebrate by playing two games, one of which is in Vegas.
As we get closer to heading North for the 2012 season, the names being cut get bigger. That was definitely the case today.
Once we have an update from the game today we will post a few things, in the meantime here are the lineups for today’s game via Carrie Muskat
* Randy Wells will start for the other team and here’s the lineup:
Soriano leading off, there have been rumblings about this, could he leadoff when the season opens? For sure, it will be fun to see how this plays out during the Spring.
