Casey Coleman Designated For Assignment

With the signing of Scott Feldman yesterday the Cubs needed to clear a roster spot on the 40-man roster for him, they did that today by designating Casey Coleman for assignment per Carrie Muskat.  The Cubs long-held out hope that Casey Coleman would fulfill the potential that they saw in him but that has not happened at all, especially at the big league level.  Expect Coleman to be placed on waivers, unless the Cubs can move him in a deal within the next 7-10 days.

Hello Spring Training!

After an off season full of excitement, and building, the 2012 Cubs baseball season is kicking off today in Mesa Arizona.  Pitchers and catchers are due to report today, and many have showed up early.  On Friday, Kerry Wood and Rodrigo Lopez each threw off the mound, hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo worked with some players in the cages, and Darwin Barney, Bryan LaHair and Josh Vitters were among those practicing on the half field.  The most telling quotes coming out of Mesa might have been from Marlon Byrd via (Carrie Muskat)
