The I-Cubs have something going right now, they staged a furious rally to beat Omaha 5-4 for their 5th straight victory.  Trailing 4-1 in the 8th inning against the first place team was nothing for this group.  The I-Cubs scored two runs in the 7th and added two more in the 8th to cap the thrilling victory.  Josh Vitters is on a roll once again as he was 2-for-4 at the plate with his 7th home run of the season, he also had a walk and two runs scored.  Dave Sappelt continues to be a two-hit machine as he was 2-for-4 in the victory.  Chris Rusin started for the Cubs, and ended with a no decision as he gave up four runs in six innings of work.

Sorry boys and girls, Anthony Rizzo didn’t hit a home run today, he did rope a double off the top of the wall so he came close at least.  The I-Cubs fell behind early and often and couldn’t dig out of that hole as they fell to Tacoma 7-2.  Brett Jackson and Ty Wright each had two hits, but the I-Cubs could only muster a total of 8 knocks in the loss.  Chris Rusin finally had a rough outing as he only lasted four innings while allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits to take his 4th loss of the season.

The I-Cubs must have been tired of playing in 1-0 games so they decided to break out the bats in a big way against Fresno.  Iowa pounded out 15 hits and 13 runs en route to a 13-2 shellacking of the Fresno Grizzles.  Anthony Rizzo was the star of the show as he almost always is as he went 2-for-6 with two home runs and six RBI’s.  Josh Vitters also had himself a day going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and 4 RBI’s.  Chris Rusin took that run support and ran with it as he turned in six solid innings of one run ball to earn his third win of the season.  It’s a fun box score for sure, go check it out.
