Spring Fever – March 26, 2015 (Cubs Lineup, Broadcast Info)

Bryant Dinger

Bright lights for the Cubs tonight as they battle the Angels on ESPN tonight, first pitch is at 6:05 PM CST.  The lineup the Cubs are trotting out tonight is worthy of the National media, and I’m sure there will be endless talk about how the Cubs are handling Kris Bryant, so tune in…  Eric Jokisch gets the ball for the Cubs, he will face off against veteran right-hander Jered Weaver, and a pretty regular season looking Angels lineup.  The Cubs made cuts earlier today, no surprises really (Almora, and Schwarber included), the roster now stands at 40.

1. Baez – 2B
2. Russell – SS
3. Bryant – LF
4. Soler – RF
5. Rizzo – 1B
6. Olt – 3B
7. Castillo – C
8. Jokisch – SP
9. Szczur – CF

Impressions?  Kris Bryant is getting his first start in LF this spring, and Joe Maddon is once again hitting the pitcher 8th, obviously something he likes to do. Also of note, Chris Denorfia is battling a hamstring issue that will most likely keep him off the opening day roster, so Matt Szczur has another great opportunity to get noticed tonight.

Spring Fever – March 16, 2015 (Cubs Lineup, Broadcast Info)

Bryant

After a sluggish start this Spring the Cubs have turned things around going 5-2 in their last seven, and winning four straight.  Jon Lester will take the mound hoping to extend that streak this afternoon against Brandon Morrow and the Padres.  Lester has been really good so far this spring, look for 4-5 innings today based on how quickly he can mow down Padre hitters.  First pitch this afternoon is at 3:05 pM CST, the game is on MLB.tv with a subscription, and also on MLB Network.  Here is how the Cubs will lineup today, Kris Bryant is back in the lineup, so is Soler, excitement.

1. Alcantara – 3B
2. Coghlan – LF
3. Castro – SS
4. Soler – RF
5. Bryant – DH
6. Sweeney – CF
7. Castillo – C
8. Olt – 1B
9. Valaika – 2B

SP – Jon Lester

jason-hammel

The Cubs will hit the road today as they take on the Angels at 3:10 PM CST.  Jason Hammel will get the ball for the Cubs looking to rebound from his first start which wasn’t so great.  Today’s game can be seen on MLB.tv with a paid subscription, or listened to through the same device with an MLB.com account.  There were whispers that MLB Network would pick up the game because of Will Ferrell’s appearance, but I’m not 100% sure on that.

1. Denorfia – DH
2. Baez – 2B
3. Soler – RF
4. Olt – 1B
5. Bryant – 3B
6. Lake – LF
7. Castillo – C
8. Russell – SS
9. Szczur – CF

SP – Jason Hammel

Impressions?  Joe Maddon is doing his best to get Mike Olt in the lineup every single day, that should tell you something.  The last time Baez, Soler, Bryant, and Russell were in the lineup there were a bunch of LOUD NOISES, hope that happens again today.

Soler Meme

Travis Wood will make his second start of the spring today as he takes the mound against the Indians.  Wood was very good his first time out, and a second solid performance would go a long way towards cementing that 5th spot in the rotation.  It’s a prospect heavy lineup for the Cubs today as Alcantara, Soler, Baez, Bryant, and Russell are all starting.  First pitch today is at 3:05 PM CST, and the game will be on TV!  Well, it’s on MLB.tv, you need a subscription to watch, but you can listen for free if you have an account via MLB.tv as well.

1. La Stella – DH
2. Lake – LF
3. Alcantara – CF
4. Soler – RF
5. Baez – 2B
6. Bryant – 3B
7. Castillo – C
8. Valaika – 1B
9. Russell – SS

SP – Travis Wood

Jon Lester Ready For Debut; Lineup!

Lester ST

Only one game for the Cubs today, but it’s a big one as Jon Lester makes his Cubs spring debut on the road against the Reds.  Not too many regulars in this lineup today, and we get to see our first pairing of Ross with Lester, something that will probably happen more often than not.  Javier Baez will hit a home run today, book it.  First pitch is 2:05 PM CST, currently there is only audio for this game on Cubs.com, if a stream pops up I will pass it along.

Denorfia RF
Alcantara 2B

April 2, 2014 — Cubs Lineup/Preview @ Pittsburgh

Game two.

We are getting an early look at what Ricky Renteria might do on a daily basis with the lineup.  The good?  I like sitting Barney and giving Bonifacio a start at second base against the right-handed pitcher.  The bad?  I don’t like that Olt is sitting in game two after an off-day, I think he is the every day third baseman so he should be in there.  I understand the though process, I just want him to play as much as possible.  I also like that Ryan Kalish gets an opportunity tonight, I think a lot of people will be fans of his immediately.

First pitch is at 6:05 PM CST on Comcast SportsNet Plus

1. 2B – Emilio Bonifacio
2. 3B – Luis Valbuena
3. SS – Starlin Castro
4. 1B – Anthony Rizzo
5. RF – Nate Schierholtz
6. CF – Ryan Sweeney
8. LF – Ryan Kalish
9. P – Edwin Jackson

Here’s how the Pirates will line up.

1. LF – Starling Marte
2. RF – Travis Snider
3. CF – Andrew McCutchen
4. 3B – Pedro Alvarez
5. C – Russell Martin
6. 2B – Neil Walker
7. 1B – Travis Ishikawa
8. SS – Jordy Mercer
9. P – Charlie Morton
