One day after Jeff Samardzija turned in the best pitching performance of the Spring, Chris Volstad goes out and one ups him. Volstad was outstanding, going 3 innings, giving up 1 hit, and stirking out three hitters.
Alfonso Soriano has Volstad in a position for the win after he blasted his third HR of the Spring already to stake the Cubs to a 1-0 lead. That’s where we sit now in the top of the 4th, 1-0 Cubs and Kerry Wood is on to pitch.
