At The Plate – The Cubs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and that’s all they would need in this one, they tacked on two more to take a 4-0 and that’s how it ended. Dan Vogelbach was 1-for-6 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored in the loss.
On The Mound – Rough start for Dillon Maples, his worst one since returning to the Kane County rotation, his offense bailed him out so he did not factor in the decision. Maples worked 3.2 innings giving up eight runs, five earned, on six hits while walking three and striking out four. Lendy Castillo was about as good as you could be, he worked 5.1 scoreless innings out of the pen giving up five hits while walking two and striking out nine.
