5/1: Around the Cubs Minor League System
Here is your nightly recap for the Cubs minor league system, enjoy.
Peoria was off
A crushing defeat for Daytona as they lost the lead in the top of the 9th inning, and lost the game in the top of the 10th. The D-Cubs couldn’t generate much offense, but they held the lead into the 9th behind a strong start from Austin Kirk. Kirk was awesome, going 8 innings, and only giving up two runs, his ERA now sits at 1.69. He ended the night with a tough luck no decision. Rubi Silva had the big hit of the night for the D-Cubs, which was a two run triple in the 3rd inning.

Brooks Raley pitched well enough to earn a victory Tuesday Night, and it looked like he was until the late innings. Montgomery battled back and erased a 4-1 deficit by scoring 5 runs combined in the 7th and 8th en route to a 6-5 victory. Logan Watkins, and Michael Burgess each went deep for the Smokies in the losing effort.

Everybody hits, and everybody drives runs in, it was an offensive explosion in Memphis as the I-Cubs pounded out 20 hits and 13 runs en route to a 13-4 victory. Every Cubs starter, including Jay Jackson had a hit, and every Cubs starter except Josh Vitters had an RBI, that’s hard to do. Brett Jackson was 4-for-5, Dave Sappelt was 3-for-6, Adrian Cardenas was 3-for-6, the list goes on, check out the full box score, it’s a treat.
Thanks for reading everyone, go Cubs!
