Smokies Bounce Back With a Victory

A day after being embarrassed the Smokies got back to work, and back to winning, beating Chattanooga 7-4.  Dae-Eun Rhee mad his 2012 debut, and had a decent outing going 5 and 2/3rds innings giving up four runs, three earned on six hits, he walked two and struck out five.

Smokies Undone by Huge Inning

Odds are if you give up nine runs in one inning you probably won’t win the game, that’s exactly what happened to the Smokies tonight.  A disasterous 9 run sixth inning did the Smokies in after they entered the inning with a 2-1 lead, and ended up losing 10-2.

McNutt Struggles With Command in Victory

Trey McNutt made his 2012 debut Friday night, and struggled with his command, possibly nerves too.  McNutt only lasted 3 and 2/3rds innings, he didn’t give up any runs, and only surrended two hits.  However, McNutt did walk three guys, and had three wild pitches to go along with his three strikeouts.  The Smokies’ bullpen was able to hold Chattanooga scoreless for the rest of the game to secure the 1-0 victory.

Tennessee Smokies (AA) Set Opening Day Roster

Double-A Tennessee announced its Opening Day roster on Tuesday. The Smokies will have 14 players back from 2011 and also include several members of the Florida State League champion Daytona team. Nine of the 13 pitchers on Tennessee’s roster were part of the team’s run to the Southern League Championship in 2011.  (Via Carrie Muskat)  (more…)
