Rejoice! Cubs Snap 12 Game Losing Streak

So that’s all the Cubs needed to get a win, Jeff Suppan on the mound and a gale force wind blowing straight out to center, I’ll take it.  The Cubs took 12 games of frustration out on the San Diego Padres staff as they pounded out 14 hits and 11 runs.  To put that in perspective, the Cubs scored 12 runs on their six game road trip that ended yesterday, so to say this was well overdue might be an understatement.  Travis Wood started and was knocked around, but I’m not going to put too much stock in his start, every fly ball was most likely leaving the yard and Wood is a fly ball pitcher, so it was bound to happen.  Wood ended up going five innings, giving up six runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out four.  The bullpen actually did a nice job working the final four innings while only giving up one run.  Randy Wells gave up that run in an inning and two-thirds but was the beneficiary of some crooked numbers to get the win.  David DeJesus, Starlin Castro, and Ian Stewart all had two hits in the win, with DeJesus recording two triples, while Castro and Stewart each went deep and drove in three runs.  Bryan LaHair and Alfonso Soriano each had three hits on the afternoon, with Soriano hitting his sixth home run of the season while driving in three runs.  It feels good, no doubt, hope everyone is enjoying their holiday a little more.  Full box score and highlights after the jump.
